Grendon v Olney Town Cricket Club Sunday Casuals/League on Sun 30 May 2010 at 2pm
Olney Town Cricket Club Won by 70 runs

Match report On a flippin marvellous day in Grendon the Olney pups excelled themselves to deliver a fine victory.

Losing the toss (2/5) Olney were put into bat and in a 40 over game were clearly lagging a tad behind when only 22 were scored off the opening 10 overs before Oakers was fingered by Brad (illegal in most countries) and could consider himself a tad unlucky to take the walk back for 9. Jewson elevated to No.3 kept the pedestrian run rate not going inching his way to a credible 20 before Winter replaced Hurley(8) in the middle to pick things up a tad before holing out to the boundary for 7. John Cadigan scored the same making way for Gratland who proceeded to flail the bat everywhere on his way to 36no.

Brad Bilson departed for just the one before Smail came out with the intention of playing a test match innings - following the skip pointing out that there were only 8 overs left and not many runs on the board, anything else left alone thats short outside the off stump was going to be quickly followed by a trip to A&E !!! It worked !
The Smail pulling a sweet 4 before hoiking a stonking 6 the very next ball, it was a shame he had his eyes closed when he connected or he could have enjoyed it like the rest of us ! Sadly in a mental attempt to run out the skipper the Smail departed for 14. It was then left for Gratters and Ben Brown to put on a 7th wicket flourish to get Olney onto 134-7.

Teas was had and buisness commenced quickly. There then followed one of the tidiest bowling performances seen on a Sunday by the pups.
Always up against it with so few runs on the board it had to be very tight and barring the first couple of overs which went for 10 that proved to be the case. Brad Bilson bowled very tidily after his first over (5-1-13-0) ably supported by the Knowles the other end who sadly complained about the wind, the uphill run-up,the price of fish and the state of the Vietnamese Dong throughout his spell but finished on 7-2-27-2.

Ben 'the bream' Brown bowled some mesmerising stuff to which the batsmen had no answer - a good display, just what was required given his shameful state of undress in the local hostelry after the match (see below) but finishing on 8-1-14-3.
Lemon Rice replaced Knowles and without a single complaint of the wind, uphill run-up, the price of fish or the Vietnamese dong currency issues, bowled some fabulous stuff going for just 8 runs off as many overs though at one point on a run up was caught by a gust of wind which went straight down his throat which threatened to sail him off towards Northampton. With the rest of the side hanging onto his ankles to keep him down he finished on (8-5-8-2).
With the bream a spent force and enjoying a well deserved break Jon Hurley came on to clinically wrap up the innings with 3-1-3-2! Top bowling girls !

Oh Smailey dropped a regulation job ! (I just cut and paste that bit from the last report)

The side then retired to The Rose & Crown for a rather splendid sausage and chip supper laid on by Grendon (cheers men), it won't be a surprise to any hosts of OTCC that the landlord (Mr Happy 2010) kindly described the mass bearing down on the food as 'animals' - sadly half the side took this as a compliment !!
Safely tucked away from civilisation in the pub garden a bout of food stealing, beer pilfering, pi** taking commenced. Throughout this Ben Brown exhibited this years must have beachwear attire gradually losing his trousers, well one leg of them over time to reveal a little off the thigh number.
The Smail went all bashful over the young filly collecting the plates (neatly piled up by young Smail to help her out) and will probably still be blushing into next weeks game. Sadly the skip pointed out to her that Smails last love interest was a 16 stone all in wrestler from Widnes !!
Caddy managed to bring out 6 bottles of cider, sadly for 7 people so ended up sitting there without one !! I blame the 11-plus !

OTCC returning to Olney with a fine 70 run victory to keep the good run going.
