Wicken Sports v Olney Town Cricket Club Sunday Casuals/League on Sun 02 May 2010 at 2pm
Olney Town Cricket Club Won by 172 runs

Match report Sunday League Division 2 Champions Olney Town kicked off their defence of the title with a resounding 172 victory over last years runners up at Wicken.

Fair play to Wicken for giving the game the go ahead when 99% of clubs would have called it off. Gratland lost the toss (0/2) and Wicken elected to bowl.

On a seriously bleedin cold day, Callum Berrill was despatched to the crease with new Sunday signing Rory Darkins (no doubt after a lucrative OTCC Sunday contract), the two whippersnappers put on 101 for the first wicket before Berrill scooped one up with his sand wedge back to the bowler (eventually). Dave Harrison with relief written all over his face that Callum wouldn't run him into the ground set about the Wicken attack and stroked an untroubled innings topping 81 not out whilst not for the first time threatening to play a single Sunday game and then doing a runner to protect his average back to the less challenging Saturday 2nd XI scene !!!

Hobbling Paul Gallyot (I'll have to field in the slips as I'm injured but I'm ok to bowl) hit 7 4's on his way to 27.

OTCC innings came to a close posting an impressive 241-3

After thawing out over tea Brad Swingler ensured the result was never going to be in doubt bowling 10 straight overs for just 11 runs (and a couple of wickets). New signing Darkins bowled a shocking first over due largely to the fact he couldn't feel his fingers (he claimed), but recovered in time to save his contract offer with figures of 6-3-14-3.

Despite howls of "What the **** are you doing Gratland", Jewson came on to scoop another wicket finishing on tidy figures. John Cadigan tidied up the Wicken attack with his seasons opening wicket (we won't mention the 26 bounce opener though John) !! Young Smailey keeping tidily - Wicken skittled for just 69.

28 maximum points and a game played in a really good spirit - also commented on by the Oppo skipper. To guage the massiveness of this win, the skipper didn't have to bat OR bowl !!!

The fines committee is in full swing and working overtime - Annies womans parts and mouth guard ensures he gets an automatic double fine every week. Paul Gallyot picked up a few incl "is that over" after the second ball.
