Great Brickhill 2nd XI v Olney Town Cricket Club Sunday Casuals/League on Sun 20 Jun 2010 at 2pm
Olney Town Cricket Club Won by 6 wickets

Match report In what is always a tough fixture Olney came out on top despite the presence of a few GB first teamers. Victory bought about by a mammoth unbeaten 147 from Callum Berrill and 4-32 from Jon Hurley.

On a strip that wouldn't have looked out of place in first class cricket Gratland lost the toss (2/7) and was asked to bowl. Short of Swingler and P Gallyot the bowling attack was a tad weakened and with Berrill and Darkins LATE to arrive !!! the opening overs were handed to Knowles and Rice who bowled very well. Rice continuing his tight spell of bowling and deserved a wicket but finished on 7-3-16-0, Knowles went for 40 from 10 but picked up 3 wickets at crucial times.
GB moved smoothly to 150 with only 4 wickets down with Mr Darkins 10-1-56-2 and Mr Berrill 7-1-41-0 getting a bit of treatment. The skip then deciding we need a proper paceman and bought on Hurley jnr who quickly despatched 4 batsmen (at one point was on a hat-trick, the Hurley led collapse from that point meant they ended their innings on a respectable 198-9.

Olney opened with Callum Berrill and Jewson. Berrill was approaching his 50 in the 5th over with Jewson ably supporting him the other end on 1 :-). JJ eventually edged behind leaving Darkins to the wicket. Darkins eventually departing for 19 to the echos of 'we want our money back' from the cheap seats as he played all around a straight one. With Berrill still going nuts the other end ex-Olney leg end Leigh Sibley coming to the crease, no-one else was bothering to change as the talent on show was clearly enough.
However Sibley was back in the hut just a few balls later adjudged LBW. With Berrill now past his century there was no panic, rather a smidgeon of edginess especially when Hurley replaced Sibley but was also despatched quickly for just 2 edging what was probably a no-ball.

To the crease and massive applause from the purists seats came skipper Gratland who rapidly despatched a few to the boundary (the first prompting a question from the bowler, aged 13, is that the first one you've hit ??). 3 more from the next few balls was a perfect answer. Under strict instructions from the Berrill not to hit the winning runs, Gratters finished on 19no with Berrill getting the 6 needed for victory with one shot straight into the car park and the roof of a very grateful owner !!! Berrill finishing on a brilliant 147 not out !

With 7 18 year olds or younger in the side (moaners take note) 28 more points for the Sunday XI !
