Olney Town Cricket Club Sunday Casuals/League v Great Brickhill 2nd XI on Sun 15 Aug 2010 at 2pm
Olney Town Cricket Club Won by 207 runs

Match report A bit of a one sided affair with resident opener and foghorn Jewson teaming up with the Peter Pan of cricket (well Peter Sutcliffe) Richard Barrass putting on 100 for the first wicket thanks to some stylish strokes and half a dozen dropped catches.

Talking of foghorns Paul Gallyot promoted himself up the order to No 3 eyeing up easy runs and was quickly despatched back to the pavilion playing probably the worst shot seen on OTCC ground since 1941 (even laughing himself as he trudged back to the guffawing public waiting on the verandah!)

Run machines Darkins and Berrill then teamed up in an entertaining knock that saw 4 runs of 4 (and one could have been 5) - actions not to be encourages as it would have required 14 St Johns mbulances to attend should any other playing member of Olney Town been participating !! Both finishing in the 60's unbeaten but Berrill won the duel on points scoring his 63no off just 30 balls !! With 38 extras helping out OTCC finished on a season best 288-3.

There then followed a brilliant tea courtesy of Liz Conibere - though sadly another tea lady that fails to grasp the rule that captains get steak !!! In all seriousness the teas this season have been by a country mile the best in the league - well done everyone involved.

Out to bowl and Swingler bowling at full pelt delivered his usual superb figures of 7-1-12-2 to remove any ideas that the opposition may have of acheiving the target. Lemon Rice bowled tidily the other end as usual and was unlucky not to claim a victim.

Ross Knapper replaced Lemon and despite the odd batsmen trying to have a go had too much for the batsmen finishing with 10-2-26-2.

Adam Barrick playing his first Sunday game of the season got straight into it bowling really well and ended with 6-2-13-1 BUT THEN

With the game won skipper Gratters bought on Paul 'Labrador' Winter who in a shameless episode of attention seeking despatched mere children looking to do their best with no mercy ! Floating the ball higher than Pete Docherty he finished on figures of 3.5-0-7-4 !!! Though pocket money was seen exchanging hands in the pavilion afterwards !

A great fielding performance with again no catches spilled and in a real turn-up only 5 extras conceded in 33 overs !

A solid win leaving Olney needing to win one of their last two fixtures to win the league though with 2 tough fixtures to come no-one is counting their chickens yet (the miserable captain wouldn't let them :-))

Onwards and er sideways .....
