After the thrill of the week befores run chase Olney were bought back to earth with a bump.

Having watched a batsman the week before rack up 141 of his own runs we had to do it again this week, only this time the batsman in question made a chanceless 191. An immense display of quality and effortless strokeplay saw Olney chase leather all over the park had the boundaries been 30 yards further it would still not have presented a problem to him. At tea then facing a massive total of 305 a win did not look likely, however with small boundaries and a lightning quick outfield as we had seen the week before anything was possible.
Our run chase did not start so well, Soul looking to force the early scoring rate was snaffled at gully in the first over, and when the previous weeks other hero gallyot jnr stumbled out of his crease to be stumped things were not looking so good. 4 for 2 in the forth over was not the place we wanted to be in. That became 49 for 3 when captain keeping went back to a straight one and was as plum as could be. Brown remaining resolute at the other end. At the half way stage Olney had lost 5 wickets and were staring defeat down the barrel! Brown still going strong at one end was joined by Gallyot snr who occupied 50 mins and 6 overs of staunch rear guard action recording 12 runs to his name before edging behind. Next followed the largest partnership of the innings 56 runs were put on in and more importantly covered 11 overs. Brown played beautifully for his 84 before being removed by the part time spin of Overton, but at the other end was a batsman that is showing maturity and growing to be a major member of the club. Christian Smail occupied the crease for just under an hour for his 9 runs facing 38 balls of at times express pace from the Bradwell front men. At times facing 5 slips with other fielders crowding the bat, not once showing any signs of intimidation. At one stage even revealing he has a little of his Uncle at the crease by smashing one over the top of mid off for 4, at thew time of smails departure Olney had an over to face, and Keeping and Smith dealt with that without problem to secure the draw.
In all a frustrating day, given that the majority of games in the MK area were called off and despite the excellent batting still only came away with 6 points. Important games follow as we close out the season.
Special mention on the day to LC who with the first ball of the innings removed the Bradwell opener to bring to the crease the one man scoring machine Ahmed. We were left to wonder what we might have had to chase had that wicket not been taken. Also to Charlie Brown, the highest score of the season by an Olney 1st team player helped us well on the way to in the end a deserved draw.
