Olney Town Cricket Club Won by 9 wkts
Match report
Olney Casuals recorded their biggest win of the season as they swept aside Wolverton to continue their assault on the Sunday Div 2 title. In a toss both captains wanted to lose due to the poor weather and damp pitch, it was the Olney skipper that got his way as the Wolverton skip won the toss and elected to bat ! In what appeared to be a very strong Olney batting line-up, it was the bowlers and the fielders that came through demolishing Wolverton for just 62 runs.
Despite a first over from Paul Gallyot which had the people of Bozeat ducking for cover, he came back to concede just 6 more runs off his next 5 overs whilst mopping up the opening 3 bats.
Annie Oakley took a great catch in the slips whislt nepotism ruled as Paul Gallyot took 3 catches off of big bruv Ross Knapper. Sam Howe took the catch of the day when he held on low down single handedly to a fierce drive to him in the covers.
Mr Lord then returned to wicket taking duties with splendid figures of 10-4-12-3. Just in the nick of time as his contract was up for renewal with a Carol Vorderman type performance based wage cut being muted !
With Ross Knapper trumping both of them by taking the other 4 wickets - the Olney bowlers ensured it was a coast for the Olney opening bat and coast they did.
With skipper Gratland threatening suicide if Olney lost this one the result was thrown into doubt ! But fear not Mr 'Not Out' Dave Harrison played the perfect brief innings getting to 31no in no time ably assisted by Fossil Gallyot at the other end making 18 before becoming the only victim of the Wolverton attack. Baz Barrass weighed in with 8no and Olney were home by 9 wickets and up to 3rd in the league. Marvellous !
