Match report In what proved to be a pretty success free opening to the season for OTCC, the Sunday side were beaten by local rivals Emberton for the first time since the war!

Olney won the toss and inserted Emberton with the openers despatched for not many - Hickman became the first threat but went for 27 before doing too much damage. Smart then proceeded to whack 91 after being dropped on 3 to a dolly, and then would have been itching to get to the lottery counter as he was dropped a further FIVE times !! Yet EIGHT of the Emberton batsmen fell to catches as chances were flying around like confetti !

Jason Wright who by this time was probably seeing 3 of everything due to his close sponsorship deal with Strongbow, somehow took 5 wickets more to his surprise than anyones. It was a sort of good bad and ugly , good 5 wickets, bad for 51 runs, ugly - the shameful dismissal first ball of a yound lad itching to start his cricket career in front of his proud dad !

Olney then came out to bat and taking 17 off the first 12 balls were rather on track. However when Barrass was dismissed for a lickety split 19 the run rate then started to decline and was always looking to be too slow as it proved.
Its always annoying to lose by runs when you have 4 wickets left in the pavilion still to come out and so it proved.

Debut man Jeffery scored 33 on debut and Paul Winter as always hit a stylishly unbeaten 52 - OTCC finishing on 176-6 and 21 runs short
